Dear Customer,

Please note Pledger Consulting does not provide technical support
for your library catalogue system. Please contact your catalogue
system supplier if you wish to enquire about loading USMARC records
into your library catalogue.

We suggest that if you are an initial user of USMARC records
of Web-sites, please ensure you back-up your current library data
before you test load and purge a small file on your
system with our sample of 30 records on file Test1.

Subject headings:

Volcanoes

As an additional check to ensure that your system does not contain double records, we suggest that you globally locate and purge all of the records on volcanoes and then load test2 file of 60 records. Subject headings are:

Volcanoes
Earthquakes

You should check to ensure you do not have double records.

Each record should show:
title, URL, description, subject heading

(You can view the sample files before loading them into your library system by opening them in 'Notepad'.)

Once you are sure of the process then you can load LinksPlus MARC file which has several thousand records.

Each time we send out our up-date, the whole LinkPlus MARC file records can be globally located in the catalogue and purged. Then replace the previous file with a new whole database. New sites will be added and changed links on records will automatically be updated.

Each update, We will send you two files: the whole database including the monthly updates and a file with just the current monthly updates.

At the end of each year we physically delete all dead-link records from the
database. So before beginning a new year you will need to be able to
locate and purge any of our files remaining from the previous year.

Because of the size of some of our our LinksPlus MARC files (over 2mb), you will need to decompress it to a .dat file on the computer on which you are uploading to
the catalogue. We will attempt to provide our files as self-extracting executable zip files.

We are able to supply limited information for different library systems so
please contact your library catalogue supplier technical support team
if you are unsure of the procedure for loading, locating and purging USMARC records.

Here is a description of what is included in each of our USMARC records
( You may preview the records on the file by opening it in Notebook or Notepad applications.):
